Meet Bal Johal, Derby's Indian Elvis
A Derby lad raised on the King, with the voice to do him justice. Performing since 1997, from local social clubs to stages around the world.

A name given by the audience
Bal Johal was born and bred in Derby, and grew up listening to his favourite artist, Elvis Presley. That early love of the King shaped his voice, his stage presence and, eventually, his name.
He started out performing in small pubs and social clubs across the East and West Midlands. It was those audiences who first called him “Indian Elvis”, and the name stuck as he moved on to bigger and better venues.
More than the look
Bal is a serious vocalist with a natural talent, a wide vocal range and real power in his voice. He doesn’t just capture the look. His show pays tribute to everything Elvis achieved musically.
"I always find the premier Elvis tribute acts will always want to show something more, as they will have the vocal range to express themselves."
Mark Ritchie, The Stage magazine
Songs from the King's own favourites
Bal goes a step further than most tribute acts, bringing in songs from the artists Elvis loved himself.
That means his good friends Sir Tom Jones and the late, great Roy Orbison, and his boyhood idol, the one and only Dean Martin. It’s a nod to the music that made Elvis who he was, and it gives every crowd something to sing along to.
The result is Elvis, The Tribute Show: a singalong, clapalong night out that gets the whole room involved.

A family man, on stage and off
Away from the spotlight, Bal is very much a family man: a proud husband, father and grandfather.
Family is at the heart of everything he does, and that warmth comes through in every performance. Whether it’s a wedding, a milestone birthday or a charity night, Bal knows how much these occasions mean, because they’re the moments he treasures with his own family.
It’s why his shows never feel like a performance put on at a crowd. They feel like a party everyone’s invited to.
